Rulani Mokwena has reportedly reassumed his previous position as assistant coach at Mamelodi Sundowns.

According to Soccer Laduma, the former Orlando Pirates coach has rejoined the Brazilians and will work alongside Pitso Mosimane once again.

The 33-year-old officially left his position as head coach of Chippa United at the expiry of his contract on June 30, having only joined the Chilli Boys in an unprecedented loan move from the Buccaneers earlier this year.

His position at Chloorkop was never really filled and he is set to resume alongside fellow assistant coach Manqoba Mnqgith and goalkeeper coach Wendell Robinson, who filled most of the void left by Mokwena’s absence.

Mokwena swapped Pirates for Sundowns in 2017 to join Micho Sredojevic in Orlando and following his departure the young coach was elevated to interim coach before Josef Zinnbauer took over the reins.

Sundowns currently occupy second spot on the Absa Premiership standings, four points behind leaders Kaizer Chiefs.
