Tottenham Hotspur and Ivory Coast fullback Serge Aurier has had his say on why he believes his younger brother Christopher Aurier was shot and killed in Toulouse last week.

The younger Aurier, 26, was shot near the ‘Le Kin’s’ nightclub early on the morning of Monday 13 July. He was pronounced dead at the Rangueil hospital.

The Spurs player believes a jealous partner of his brother’s former girlfriend is to blame for the tragic incident.

Serge Aurier told La Depeche, as quoted by Tribal Football: “It’s all about a woman, my brother’s ex.

“Christopher was still talking to his ex, her new boyfriend got angry and wanted it to end. Christopher didn’t respond, he ignored it. Moments later, that friend came back and shot Christopher.”

On the suspected perpetrator surrendering himself, he added: “That’s good news and smart on his part.

“We have to let the matter rest. I have no feelings of hatred or revenge against the perpetrator. I have a profession in which you have to be calm, I remain calm.

“I have faith in the legal system. I am deeply saddened, I will stay mourning my brother’s death.”
