There will be no room for any further postponements when the 2019-20 Egyptian Premier League resumes on 6 August, according to the Egyptian Football Association (EFA).
EFA board member Mohamed Fadl revealed earlier this week that a tight schedule to complete the campaign as soon as possible has left no margin for error.
“We intended to announce the full schedule of the league, but we started with the current schedule and will release the date of the remaining matches after determining the date of Confederation of African Football (CAF) games,” Fadl told a television programme, as quoted by Ahram Online.
“There is no time to postpone any game for even an hour, and we hope all games will be played as scheduled,” he added.
A number of positive tests for coronavirus cropped up at Egyptian Premier League club El-Entag El-Harby after they held a training camp in the Red Sea city of Sharm El-Sheikh.
“Our role in EFA is to resolve the problem and we hope they all will recover soon, as there is no intention to postpone games,” Fadl explained.
Zamalek and Al Masry will meet in a rescheduled match to mark the re-opening of the EPL on 6 August, while another major date on the new calendar is the Cairo derby between Zamalek and runaway league leaders Al Ahly on 22 August.
