Algeria international Youcef Atal has responded to reports linking him with Spanish champions Real Madrid and Italy’s SSC Napoli.
The full-back-cum-winger had a good season with his French club OGC Nice as he helped the team qualify for the 2020/21 UEFA Europa League.
Atal’s exploits have reportedly impressed Madrid and Napoli scouts having netted seven goals in 42 Ligue 1 matches since joining Nice from Belgian side KV. Kortrijk in 2018.
However, the 24-year-old player insists that he is only focusing on recovering from his injury ahead of the 2020/21 season.
“When you hear them [the rumours], it’s nice because it’s the reward for your work. If the big clubs are watching you, that means you’re there. You exist”, Atal said on One Football.
“But I was focused on recovering from my injury and I am only thinking of having a good season here.
“Already, I haven’t had a full second season and I have to do one with the Europa League, my first European Cup. I feel good here,” he added.
“The day I have to leave Nice, it will be for a very big club. The level is rising with the competition and that is already doing us good.”
Atal has netted once in 18 international matches for Algeria and he was part of the Desert Foxes team which clinched the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title.
