Al Ahly have reportedly confirmed that Ramadan Sobhi has expressed his desire to join Egyptian Premier League rivals Pyramids FC.
According to KingFut.com as reported by KickOff.com, the 23-year-old has opted to sign for Pyramids.
Sobhi has spent the last two years on-loan at Al Ahly and looked sure to join the Red Devils on a permanent deal, but he has now informed the eight-time CAF Champions League winners that he intends to join their league rivals instead.
The Egypt international had reportedly received offers from Udinese, Olympiacos and Besiktas but looks set to continue his career in his home country.
Al Ahly had reached an agreement to sign Sobhi from Huddersfield for around £3.5-million but after asking the club for two days to rethink his options, he dropped the bombshell.
Pyramids remain determined to break the Al Ahly-Zamalek stranglehold in Egypt’s top tier with the two clubs having won a combined 53 league titles between them since the league’s inception in 1948.
Sobhi scored 24 goals in 110 games for Al Ahly in all competitions having first broken into the club’s first team as a 16-year-old.
