SuperSport United will look to add to Polokwane City’s woes in the Absa Premiership when the teams meet at Bidvest Stadium on Wednesday 19 August 2020, kick-off at 15h30.

SuperSport returned to league action with a 1-1 draw at home to Bloemfontein Celtic on August 16, extending their unbeaten run to three matches. Matsatsantsa have claimed 24 points from 13 home matches so far this season.

Polokwane suffered a second successive league loss – and their 16th this season – when they were defeated 3-2 at home by log leaders Kaizer Chiefs on August 15. Rise and Shine have claimed just seven points from 12 away matches in this campaign.

In head-to-head stats, SuperSport and Polokwane have met in 13 league matches since 2013/14. Matsatsantsa have claimed four wins compared to three for Rise and Shine, while six games have been drawn. The Tshwane side has recorded two wins and four draws in six home matches in the rivalry.

When the teams met earlier this season, at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium in September 2019, Polokwane claimed a 3-1 home win thanks to goals from Nicholas Motloung, Puleng Tlolane and Salulani Phiri. United scored their consolation through Aubrey Modiba and had Onismor Bhasera sent off.

SuperSport’s line-up from their 1-1 draw with Celtic on August 16: Williams, Bhasera, Ditlhokwe, Kekana, Nhlapo, Mokoena, Mbule, Modiba (Donn 80′), Manziba, Mahachi (Gabuza 46′), Grobler (Lungu 66′).

Polokwane’s line-up from their 3-2 loss to Chiefs on August 15: Chibwe, Mvelase, Hlongwane, Nikili, Chembezi, Chauke, Nku (Booi 73′), Phiri (Manaka 63′) Mngomezulu (Musona 73′), J.Maluleke, Anas (Mashumba 63′).
