Bidvest Wits and Orlando Pirates failed to boost their chances of finishing on the 2019/20 Absa Premiership standings on Tuesday.


Wits had an opportunity to move into third-place when they took on Lamontville Golden Arrows at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.


However, they were frustrated by a stubborn Arrows side, who are looking to finish in the top eight in the league this season.


The encounter ended in a 0-0 draw and the result saw Wits move up to the fifth spot on the standings, while Arrows slip down to the ninth spot.


Meanwhile, Pirates were frustrated by a resilient Baroka FC side in a match which was played at the Ellis Park Stadium in Johannesburg.


Pirates opened the scoring through Tshegofatso Mabasa, who scored with a well-taken shot 16 minutes into the match.


However, Evidence Makgopa levelled matters for Baroka when he netted with a tap in from Thamsanqa Masiya’s cross 10 minutes before half-time.


Ultimately, the match ended in a 1-1 stalemate and Pirates remained third on the standings, while Baroka also remained 13th on the log.


Lastly, Chippa United were held by to a 0-0 by Highlands Park in a battle between two teams which are looking to finish in the top eight at the Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg.


The result saw Chippa and Highlands remain 12th and eighth respectively on the standings.
