Stellenbosch and Cape Town City will meet for an Absa Premiership derby clash at Tuks Stadium on Thursday 20 August 2020, kick-off at 18h00.

Stellenbosch took a major step toward avoiding relegation when they defeated Golden Arrows 1-0 at home on August 15, courtesy of a goal from Ashley du Preez. Stellies have claimed 18 points from 12 home matches so far this season.

City racked up a third successive league win when they defeated Mamelodi Sundowns 3-2 at home on August 17, with goals from Bradley Ralani (two) and Kermit Erasmus. The Citizens, however, have claimed just nine points from 12 away matches in this campaign.

In head-to-head stats, Stellenbosch and City have met in just one previous top-flight match: that encounter took place earlier this season, at the Athlone Stadium in August 2019, where an early goal from Chris David saw the Citizens claim a 1-0 win.

Stellenbosch’s line-up from their 1-0 win over Arrows on August 15: Langeveldt, Mobbie, de Goede (Bergman 62’), Robertson, van Heerden (Ndlovu 87’), Sinkala, Johannes, Scott (Matsi 87’), Karuru, du Preez (Msengi 74’), Skelem (Mbekile 74’).

City’s line-up from their 3-2 win over Sundowns on August 17: Leeuwenburgh, Fielies, Mobara, Edmilson (Seedat 68′), Martin (Mkhize (46′), Mdantsane, Nodada, Roberts (Makola 64′), Lakay, Erasmus (Morris 75′), Ralani.
