Egyptian legend Emad Moteab has criticized Al Ahly striker Marwan Mohsen following the team’s defeat to Zamalek in the Cairo Derby.
The Red Devils succumbed to a 3-1 defeat to arch-rivals Zamalek in a titanic Egyptian Premier League match on Saturday evening.
This was Al Ahly’s first defeat of the 2019/20 campaign having registered 18 wins, two draws and one loss from 21 league matches.
Al Ahly had a chance to score late in the second half as Aliou Badji passed the ball to Mohsen, who let it go as he thought he was offside.
Moteab, who was a lethal striker during days with Al Ahly between 2003 and 2018, has slammed the current Egypt international.
“Marwan Mohsen should take a vacation from football,” Moteab said on King Fut.
“As a centre-forward, you should be aware of your position and the opposing defenders on the pitch.
“If he sees that none of his teammates are helping him on the pitch, then he’s the one not helping himself. He’s not thinking clearly and his head is certainly not in the game.”
Moteab and his Al Ahly are scheduled to take on El Gouna on Wednesday as they look to return to winning ways after their defeat in the Cairo Derby.
