Mamelodi Sundowns captain Hlompho Kekana is confident that his team can get the job done against Kaizer Chiefs in what is set to be the defining game of the 2019/20 Absa Premiership season.
Three points separate the two teams heading into Thursday’s showdown at Orlando Stadium with victory for either set to go a long way in deciding where the league title will be heading next week.
The Brazilians have hauled Chiefs in before in previous seasons and are the defending champions for a reason. Themba Zwane’s late goal versus Golden Arrows earlier this week breathed new life into Sundowns’ title charge and Kekana has outlined what the Tshwane club need to do to secure another championship.
“We now understand the nature of this game and I believe we are a team that’s very ambitious because we have been in this space for so many seasons now,” the 35-year-old told Downs’ media department ahead of the crunch tie.
“We understand that we have to take each game at a time, and one of the matches that we have to take care of is the upcoming one against Chiefs.
“And we know that we have to do our business and make sure that we win the match, we have to make sure that we take care of all the elements involved in the game.
“I think we are in the right frame of mind to do so, because we just won the match [against Arrows] and it was a morale booster for the team. I believe we stand a chance of doing the business for ourselves,” he concluded.
