Orlando Pirates will be desperate to break their win drought in the Absa Premiership when they host SuperSport United at Ellis Park Stadium on Saturday 29 August 2020, kick-off at 13h30.

Pirates have gone six league matches without a win after losing 1-0 away to Cape Town City on August 23, while the sequence of results has seen them scored just one goal and take only one point from a possible 18. The Buccaneers have claimed 26 points from 13 home matches so far this season.

SuperSport have taken 13 points from the last 15 available and claimed a 1-0 away win over Black Leopards – with a late goal from Ghampani Lungu – on August 25. Matsatsantsa have claimed 20 points from 13 games on the road in the 2019/20 campaign.

In head-to-head stats, Pirates and SuperSport have met in 57 league matches since 1990. The Buccaneers have claimed 23 wins compared to 19 for Matsatsantsa, while 15 games have been drawn. The Soweto side has won 13 of their 28 home league matches against their Soweto counterparts, suffering six defeats in the process.

When the teams met earlier this season, at Mbombela Stadium in August 2019, SuperSport racked up an emphatic 3-0 home win thanks to goals from Bradley Grobler (two) and Ghampani Lungu. Pirates have managed just one win in the last nine league meetings of these teams.

Pirates’ line-up from their 1-0 loss to CT City on August 23: Sandilands, Jele, Nyauza, Maela, Mako (Dlamini 46’), Zungu (Mntambo 73’), Motshwari, Monyane (Ndlovu 46’), Pule (Mhango 62’), Lorch, Mabasa (Memela 62’).

SuperSport’s line-up from their 1-0 win over Leopards on August 25: Williams, Kekana, Fleurs, Daniels (Bhasera 52’), Ditlhokwe, Webber (Donn 72’), Mokoena, Mbule (Gabuza 65’), Mahachi (Modiba 65’), Lungu, Grobler.
