Golden Arrows will aim to end their winless run in the Absa Premiership when they host Cape Town City at Ellis Park Stadium on Saturday 29 August 2020, kick-off at 18h00.

Arrows have gone six league matches without a win after they were beaten 1-0 at Mamelodi Sundowns on August 24. Abafana Bes’thende, though, have a solid home record, with 22 points taken from 13 matches as hosts so far this season.

City continued their fine form in the league with a fourth win from their last five matches, defeating Orlando Pirates 1-0 at home on August 23 despite playing two thirds of the encounter with 10 men. The Citizens, however, have claimed just nine points from 13 away matches in the 2019/20 campaign.

In head-to-head stats, City and Arrows have met in seven league matches since 2016/17. Abafana Bes’thende have claimed three wins compared to one for the Citizens, while three games have been drawn. The Durban side has recorded two victories and one draw from their three home matches in the rivalry.

When the teams met earlier this season, at Cape Town Stadium in September 2019, they played out a 1-1 draw: Kermit Erasmus put City ahead early in the second half, but Arrows earned a share of the spoils with a late penalty from Knox Mutizwa.

Arrows’ line-up from their 1-0 loss to Sundowns on August 24: Mlungwana, S.Dube, Ndlovu, Mathiane, Nkombelo (Lunga 71′), Makhubela, L.Dube, Shitolo, Parusnath (Zuke 76′), Gumede (Lamola 71′), Mutizwa.

City’s line-up from their 1-0 win over Pirates on August 23: Leeuwenburgh, Mkhize, Fielies, Mobara, Edmilson, Nodada, Mdantsane (Mokeke 59’), Makola, Ralani (Kewuti 80’), Morris (Martin 69’), Erasmus (Lakay 79’).
