Kaizer Chiefs will look to fight back in the Absa Premiership title race when they host Chippa United at Orlando Stadium on Wednesday 2 September 2020, kick-off at 18h00.

Chiefs suffered a second successive loss – and extended their winless run to four matches – with a 1-0 loss away to Bidvest Wits on August 30. The Amakhosi have claimed 24 points from 14 home matches so far this season.

Chippa extended their unbeaten run in the league to three matches, with a last-gap equaliser from Thokozani Sekotlong securing a 1-1 draw at Stellenbosch on August 28. The Chilli Boys have claimed 15 points from 14 away matches in the 2019/20 campaign.

In head-to-head stats, Chippa and Chiefs have met in 13 league matches since 2012/13. The Amakhosi have claimed six wins compared to five for the Chilli Boys, while two matches have been drawn. The Soweto side has won three of their six home league matches in the rivalry, suffering two defeats in the process.

When the teams met earlier this season, at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in November 2019, Chiefs claimed a 2-0 away win thanks to a brace from Dumisani Zuma. The result broke a run of four unbeaten games in the rivalry for Chippa.

Chiefs’ line-up from their 1-0 loss to Wits on August 30: Akpeyi (Bvuma 46’), Moleko, Cardoso, Mathoho, Sasman, Frosler, Baccus (Katsande 73’), Akumu, Parker, Billiat, Nurkovic.

Chippa’s line-up from their 1-1 draw with Stellenbosch on August 28: Mothwa, Thopola, Nsabiyumva, Modisane, Maphanga (Moyo 90’+2), Lebitso (Gamildien 60′), Masalesa (Lentjies 46′), Komane, Jodwana (Malepe 82′), Mbenyane, Kwem (Sekotlong 60′).
