Chippa United will look to confirm their Absa Premiership status for next season with a positive result at home to Golden Arrows on Saturday 5 September 2020, kick-off at 15h30.
Chippa remain in mathematical danger of finishing in the relegation playoff spot after they were beaten 1-0 at log leaders Kaizer Chiefs on September 2. The Chilli Boys have claimed 16 points from 14 home matches so far this season.
Arrows can neither be relegated, nor finish in the top eight, after they racked up an eighth game without a win, drawing 0-0 at home to Bloemfontein Celtic on September 2. Abafana Bes’thende have claimed just 11 points from 14 away matches in the 2019/20 campaign.
In head-to-head stats, Arrows and Chippa have met in 11 league matches since 2012/13. Abafana Bes’thende have claimed four wins compared to one for the Chilli Boys, while six matches have ended in draws. The Eastern Cape side has yet to win at home in the rivalry, with four draws and one loss in five matches as hosts.
When the teams met earlier this season, at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium in August 2019, Arrows claimed a 2-1 home win thanks to goals from Nduduzo Sibiya and Knox Mutizwa. The result broke a run of five successive draws between the clubs.
Chippa’s line-up from their 1-0 loss to Chiefs on September 2: Mothwa, Thopola, Nsabiyumva, K. Moyo, Maphanga (E. Moyo 70’), Gamildien, Maphangule (Komane 72’), Malepe, Jodwana (Kwem 46’), Lentjies (Lebitso 70’), Sekotlong.
