Orlando Pirates will chase a third-place finish in the Absa Premiership when they conclude their season with a clash at home to Stellenbosch at the Ellis Park Stadium on Saturday 5 September 2020, kick-off at 15h30.
Pirates kept up their hopes of qualifying for African football next season by claiming a second successive win, as a late Frank Mhango goal saw them defeat Maritzburg United 1-0 away on September 2. The Buccaneers, who are one point adrift of third place heading into this final round, have claimed 29 points from 14 home matches.
Stellenbosch racked up a third successive 1-1 draw (and extended their unbeaten run to five matches) by holding AmaZulu at home on September 2, with a late goal from Ashley Du Preez. The Cape side has claimed just 13 points from 14 away matches in the 2019/20 campaign.
In head-to-head stats, Pirates and Stellenbosch have met in just one previous top-flight league match. That encounter took place earlier this season and saw the Cape side claimed a 1-0 home win at Cape Town Stadium in October 2019 thanks to a goal from Iqraam Rayners.
Pirates’ line-up from their 1-0 win over Maritzburg: Sandilands, Monyane, Maela, Jele, Mako, Makaringe (Mhango 83′), Pule, Motshwari, Lepasa (Mabasa 70′, Ndengane 90’+4), Ndlovu, Lorch (Dlamini 70′).
Stellenbosch’s line-up from their 1-1 draw with AmaZulu: Langeveldt, De Goede, Johannes, Robertson, Mobbie, Scott (Msengi 74′), Sinkala (Bergman 86′), Van Heerden (Mbekile 46′), Skelem (Moon 86′), Isaacs (Franco 46′), Du Preez.
