Nigeria international Victor Osimhen needs time to adjust to life in the Italian Serie A according to Matteo Politano.
Osimhen recently joined Napoli from French side Lille OSC for a club-record fee of €70 million potentially rising to €80 million with add-ons.
The 21-year-old marksman caught the eye recently when he grabbed a hat-trick and assist in Napoli’s pre-season game against L’Aquila Calcio.
The Napoli winger Politano has pleaded with the fans not to put Osimhen under pressure with the young striker having excelled in Belgium and France.
“Osimhen has great prospects, he’s a good guy and has to work calmly,” Politano told Sky Sport Italia.
“You shouldn’t expect everything immediately, he comes from a championship that is different from the Italian one,” the Italy international added.
“He has potential, it’s up to him to put it into action. We are happy to have him on the team and we will give him a hand. He has great ability. We should put him at ease.”
Osimhen netted 13 goals in 27 French Ligue 1 matches for Lille last season after scoring 12 from 25 Belgian Pro League games for Sporting Charleroi in the 2018/19 campaign.
The former VFL Wolfsburg player has hit the back of the net four times in nine international matches for Nigeria.
