French Ligue 1 club Lille OSC have confirmed that they are ready to listen to offers for French-Senegalese midfielder Boubakary Soumare.
The 21-year-old defensive midfielder is regarded as one of the most promising players in Ligue 1 and has attracted interest from the ‘big leagues’ such as La Liga, Serie A and, most prominently, the Premier League, where Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool are reported to be keen admirers of Soumare.
The player was born in Noisy-le-Sec on the outskirts of Paris and has represented France at junior level from U-16 to U-21. However, he is of Senegalese descent and remains eligible to play for the Teranga Lions in the future.
Lille president Gerard Lopez had admitted that Soumare will be leaving the club sooner rather than later – but only for the right price.
“I am going to sit down with the players and their entourages this week,” Lopez said, as quoted by Tribal Football.
“We need to sit down with the players and speak. In terms of Boubakary, as we play with two in the midfield… The door is open if he wants to leave.
“We have had important offers from clubs where he did not want to go.
“All three parties have to agree for a transfer to occur… He’s quite impatient to play and that’s normal. It shows ambition.
“He will undoubtedly leave the club, the door is open. We have concrete offers. We will talk in the coming days.”
