Algerian star Youcef Belaili’s father, Hafid has confirmed that his son is on the radar of African giants Al Ahly and Esperance.
The 28-year-old winger is currently on the books of Saudi Arabian club Al Ahli, but top African clubs are keen to bring him back to Africa.
Tunisian champions Esperance are currently in talks with Al Ahli regarding the services of Belaili according to Hafid.
The Oran-born player was on the books of Esperance between 2018 and 2019.
“There are no negotiations between us and Esperance at the moment but I know they are in talks with Al Ahli to sign Youcef,” Hafid said on King Fut.
“The priority will be for Esperance. Youcef knows the club well and won’t mind a return but as I said no formal contact so far.”
Hafid also revealed that Egyptian champions Al Ahly have tried to sign Belaili on loan from the nine-time Saudi Arabian champions.
“Al Ahly have a big desire to sign Belaili and spoke with us several times,” Hafid said.
“They tried to sign him on loan but there is misunderstanding between them and Al Ahli. Whoever is more serious and presents the better offer will get the player.”
Belaili helped Algeria clinch last year’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title in Egypt as he netted twice in six appearances in the tournament.
The well-travelled player has netted five goals in 18 international matches for Algeria.
