England-born Ghanaian defender Tariq Lamptey will make the right decision regarding his international future.
This is according to Brighton and Hove Albion manager Graham Potter amid an imminent choice between Ghana and England.
The 19-year-old right-back has caught the eye with some brilliant performances for the Seagulls in the English Premier League.
Born to Ghanaian parents in the United Kingdom and Lamptey currently plays for England under-21 national team.
Potter made it clear that he is not looking to influence the diminutive player’s decision on his international future
“He’s certainly not a person who would give up on anything,” Potter said on Ghana Sports Online.
“Then it’s about him and his family and what the right decision for him is.
“Whatever decision he makes [about his international future], I would fully support and try to help him achieve his goals,” he added.
“But as a person, as a character, he’s a top guy. He’s not one that will give up, that’s for sure.”
Lamptey was nurtured in the Chelsea academy before being promoted to the first team and he was sold to Brighton in January 2020.
He has also represented England at under-18, under-19 and under-20 levels.
