Rodgers: Leicester's Ndidi could be out for 2-3 months

Nigerian star Wilfred Ndidi could miss ‘six to 12 weeks’ of action according to Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers.

This is after the defensive midfielder picked up an abductor injury against Burnley 4-2 on Sunday evening.

Ndidi missed Leicester’s 2-0 Carabao Cup Third Round defeat to Arsenal on Wednesday night.

Rodgers explained that the 23-year-old player sustained the injury during the 4-2 Premier League win over Burnley at King Power Stadium.

Ndidi, who has played at centre-back in City’s two 2020/21 Premier League matches, could be out for two to three months.

“We’re just waiting to hear more on that, but he could be anything between six and 12 weeks,” Rodgers told the club’s official website.

“It’s an abductor which may have come off the bone.

“It’s quite a nasty injury, so we’re waiting to see if he needs an operation or not. If it’s an operation, then he’ll be at least 12 weeks.”

This means Ndidi will miss Nigeria’s upcoming friendly matches against Ivory Coast and Tunisia which will be played next month.

He has played 36 international matches for the Super Eagles.
