Nigeria international Alex Iwobi hopes to have impressed Carlo Ancelotti after inspiring Everton to a victory.
The attacking midfielder grabbed a goal and assist as the Premier League side defeated Fleetwood Town 5-2 in the Carabao Cup clash on Wednesday.
It was Iwobi’s second appearance of the 2020/21 season having struggled for game time following the arrival of Colombian playmaker James Rodriguez at Everton earlier this month.
The former Arsenal reflected on the team’s performance against Fleetwood, who are campaigning in the English League One.
“Our performance tonight showed the confidence and the quality we have,” Iwobi said on Goal.
“We’ve got strength in depth and were able to rotate the team and get a performance today so it shows we have a good team for the season.
“It was a good experience for me to get 90 minutes under my belt as I’m trying to get fit for all competitions so it was good for the manager to give me the opportunity today,” he added.
“Everyone wants to play so hopefully I can give the manager a migraine and get involved as much as I can.”
Everton are set to take on Crystal Palace in a Premier League clash at Selhurst Park on Saturday.
Iwobi is part of the Nigeria squad which will play friendly matches against Ivory Coast and Tunisia next month.
