Egyptian giants Al Ahly have declared that their relationship with current manager Rene Weiler will be decided in early October.
The Swiss tactician, who has guided the Red Devils to a record-extending 42nd Egyptian Premier League title, as well as the semifinals of the CAF Champions League, appears to be on his way out of the club.
This is after he failed to appear at a recent meeting of the club’s football representatives and also reportedly refused to agree with several terms in a proposed contract renewal.
According to KingFut, Weiler “will most probably leave before the CAF Champions League semifinals”, while “Arab Contractors manager, Emad El-Nahas, has been linked with the job”.
Ahly denied rumours that they have already parted ways with Weiler, releasing the following as part of an official statement:
“The club’s executive director, Mohamed Morgan, confirms that no decisions or statements have been made regarding the football sector and especially the first team. The statement currently circulating on social media is completely false and it has to be known that the relationship between the club and the manager is a private matter.”
Ahly have now confirmed that a final decision in regards to Weiler’s future will be announced on Thursday, October 1.
The Egyptian giants are scheduled to begin their Champions League semifinal tie against Wydad Casablanca just over two weeks later, on October 17.
