Senegal international Sadio Mane is delighted after making a landmark jump on the list of Liverpool FC’s all-time top scorers.
The world-class winger’s brace inspired the Reds to a 2-0 win over Chelsea in an English Premier League clash over a week ago.
Uruguayan superstar and Atletico Madrid striker Luis Suarez was the latest to be leapfrogged by Mane, who is now on 83 goals for Liverpool from 173 competitive games.
The 28-year-old player now sits joint-19th with English legend Albert Stubbins and is likely to bear down on the century mark during the course of the season.
“I didn’t know it before, for sure,” Mane told the club’s official website.
“I’m really, really proud and really happy about it because as a player you always have targets and it’s one of my targets.
“So, I’m in the 20 top scorers [now] and I’m really happy about it,” the former Southampton player added.
“I’m looking forward to scoring more and more goals for the team and to be closer [to the rest of the names on the list].”
Mane will be hoping to inspire Liverpool to a win over Arsenal when the two teams clash in a Premier League clash on Monday at 21h00 CAT.
