Ghana international Mohammed Salisu will not be rushed into action at his new English club, Southampton.

The 21-year-old defender was snapped up by the Premier League side from Spanish La Liga outfit Real Valladolid two months ago.

Salisu is yet to make his official debut for the Saints so far owing to fitness concerns.

“He [Salisu] is more and more part of our first-team training, but it takes time,” Hasenhuttle told club’s official website.

“He is coming back, but we’ll give him all the time he needs.”

Salisu amassed 34 appearances for Valladolid in the 2019/20 season before joining Southampton for a £10.9 million fee.

The Accra-born player, who was nurtured in the West African Football Academy, signed a four-year deal with the Saints.

Salisu moved to Southampton after being linked with top European clubs such as Manchester United, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid.

He is yet to make his international debut for Ghana and he was not included in the squad which will face Mali in a friendly match later this month.
