Algeria international Rachid Ghezzal has secured a move to Turkish giants Besiktas on a season-long loan from England’s Leicester City.
The 28-year-old winger struggled to make an impact at Leicester after joining the club from French Ligue 1 giants AS Monaco in 2018.
Ghezzal was seen as a direct replacement for his countryman Riyad Mahrez, who had left Leicester for England’s Manchester City.
Leicester released the following statement:
“Leicester City can confirm that winger Rachid Ghezzal has signed a loan deal with Turkish Süper Lig side Beşiktaş until the end of the 2020/21 campaign, subject to international clearance,” a club statement read.
The 28-year-old has made 23 appearances for Leicester in all competitions and netted three goals.
Ghezzal spent last season on loan at Italian side Fiorentina and he played 19 times and scored once in Serie A.
The winger, who was born Décines-Charpieu, France, will be hoping to help Besiktas clinch their 16th Super Lig title in the 2020/21 season.
He has played 16 times for Algeria and netted once and he is a former France under-20 international.
