The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed that the 2020-21 Ghana Premier League (GPL) will start on November 13.
The domestic championship has been inactive since March, when it was suspended – and later cancelled – due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The 2019-20 season was nearing the halfway mark when it was halted in March, and the GFA then took the decision to scrap the season entirely – without any champion, promotion or relegation – in June.
The GFA in a statement on their official website, has stated that the 2020-21 season is expected to run from the weekend of November 13-16 to July 16-18 2021.
Ghanasoccernet [https://ghanasoccernet.com/2020-21-ghana-premier-league-season-kicks-off-on-nov-13] reports that “all clubs must adhere to the COVID-19 protocols ahead of the start of the season”, while “all players and officials are to undertake the mandatory COVID-19 testing before the season commences”.
The highlight of the first round of fixtures on November 13-16 is Hearts of Oak facing Aduana Stars.
