Thabang Monare has become the most recent former Bidvest Wits player to sign for Orlando Pirates ahead of the 2020/21 Premier Soccer League (PSL) season.
Monare joins Thulani Hlatshwayo, Deon Hotto and Terrence Dzvukamanja in joining the Buccaneers after Bidvest Wits sold their status to Limpopo businessman and Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila owner, Masala Mulaudzi.
Monare joins Pirates as a free agent and has put pen-to-paper on a two-year deal.
The 31-year-old joined the Clever Boys from Jomo Cosmos in 2016 and made over 100 appearances for the now defunct club.
“I am happy to have signed with the Club,” said Monare. “I hope, like I have done in my entire career, I can make a meaningful contribution during my time here. I think this is a team that suits my style of play and that can only benefit me and the team for the season ahead.”
Pirates kick-off their campaign with a MTN8 clash at home to Cape Town City on Saturday.
