Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila will make their top-flight bow in South African football when they face SuperSport United in the first MTN8 quarterfinal of the 2020-21 season, scheduled for 15h00 CAT on Saturday 17 October at the Thohoyandou Stadium.

TTM’s place in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) was secured when they bought out Bidvest Wits earlier this year, and they have assumed the Clever Boys’ place in both the elite league and top eight competition.

The Limpopo club’s current squad is an amalgamation of Wits players who have ‘stayed on board’ as well as TTM’s roster from the 2019-20 season – a team good enough to finish in the top three of the GladAfrica Championship, though they ultimately fell short of promotion (in the traditional sense) in the playoffs.

SuperSport, meanwhile, are the defending MTN8 champions, having defeated Highlands Park in the 2019 final to pick up their third top eight crown.

Matsatsantsa, led by coach Kaitano Tembo, finished a respectable fifth place in last season’s league and have a stable base on which to build. However, they have lost the services of key player Aubrey Modiba, who has signed for cross-town rivals Mamelodi Sundowns.

In head-to-head terms, this will be the first meeting of Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila and SuperSport United.
