Andre Ayew’s proposed move to Brighton & Hove Albion is in doubt.
According to The Sun, there is concrete interest from the Seagulls but not at the Ghanaian’s current £90,000-a-week wage packet at Swansea City.
Furthermore, the publication reports that a deal would be more likely if Ayew, who still has a year remaining on his current Swans deal, terminated his contract in Wales so that Brighton could take him on a free.
Ayew, 30, joined Swansea from West Ham United for a second spell in January 2018.
The Ghana international first joined the Welsh club from Marseille three years prior before joining the Hammers where he scored 12 times in 50 appearances.
In total, Ayew has scored 31 goals in 99 games for the Swans with 18 of those goals coming last season.
Despite suffering three defeats in their opening four games of the 2020/21 Premier League season, Brighton have impressed most who have watched them.
The Seagulls next face Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Sunday.
The transfer deadline for players moving between Premier League and EFL clubs is at 17:00 local time, October 16.
