Suleyman ‘Sulley’ Muntari is reportedly on the cusp of joining DStv Premiership club Maritzburg United.
According to KickOff.com, the 36-year-old arrived in Durban on Monday to open talks with the Team of Choice.
Muntari has also been linked with a move to both Cape Town City and Kaizer Chiefs but the latter is still awaiting verdict on their current FIFA transfer ban.
The Ghanian midfielder is well known for the success he achieved in England and Italy where he most notably donned the colours of Portsmouth, Udinese, Inter and AC Milan.
Muntari scored 20 goals in 84 caps for Ghana and was part of the Black Stars team that reached the quarter-finals at the 2010 FIFA World Cup hosted in South Africa — where he famously scored his country’s solitary goal in their heartbreaking defeat to Uruguay at FNB Stadium.
Maritzburg United have also been linked with a move for former Mamelodi Sundowns defender Fares Hachi.
Eric Tinkler’s men kick-off their league campaign away to Baroka FC on Saturday.
