Guinea captain Naby Keita has returned to training at his club, Liverpool FC after receiving a negative coronavirus test result.
The midfield maestro has been cleared to begin training and playing again, with manager Jurgen Klopp hopeful the English giants’ No.8 can feature against Ajax Amsterdam on Wednesday.
The Reds will face Ajax in the opening round of the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League Group D at Johan Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
Keita missed Guinea’s 2-1 win over Cape Verde international friendly match last week after he reportedly tested positive for coronavirus.
“We are still learning, we are all learning about these kind of things when a boy is completely without symptoms, which Naby was,” Klopp said on the club’s official website.
“He looked very good yesterday in training, to be honest. But I don’t know how he looks today, how he reacted – that’s much more important then.
“So, we will see. “In the moment, I would probably rather expect him to be involved but I don’t know it.”
The 25-year-old has helped Liverpool win the UEFA Champions League title in his first season (2018/19) at the club, and the FIFA Club World Cup and Premier League the following season.
Keita made his senior international debut for Guinea in 2013 and he has played 37 international matches and netted seven goals.
He was part of their squad at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals in 2015 and 2019.
