Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has commented on Mohamed Elneny’s return to Arsenal.
The Egypt international looked to be heading out of the North London club on a permanent basis after spending last season on-loan at Besiktas but has now been included in the Gunners 25-man squad for the 2020/21 English Premier League season.
Elneny has featured six times across all competitions this season and while the arrival of Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid has pushed him down the pecking order, he is likely to play a prominent role in the club’s Europa League campaign.
Talking about his love for the midfielder, Aubameyang revealed that he is happy to have his fellow African back at the club.
“I learned some Arabic words of course. I love him because he’s like me a bit, he’s always happy and positive, this is why I like him. I learned ‘habibi’ and ‘alhamdulillah’,” the Arsenal club captain told beIN SPORTS TV.
“On the pitch, he’s a really great player, he always wants to play forward. He always tries to give us the ball and we’re happy that he’s back,” the Gabon international added.
Elneny joined Arsenal from FC Basel in 2016 and has made 95 appearances for the club across all competitions.
