Al Ahly defeated Wydad Casablanca 3-1 in the 2019/20 CAF Champions League semi-final second-leg match at the Cairo International match on Friday night.

As a result, the Egyptian champions advanced to the final after winning the tie 5-1 on aggregate and they will take on either Egypt’s Zamalek or Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca in the final next month.

The Red Devils got off to the perfect start as they broke the deadlock through Marwan Mohsen just five minutes into the encounter.

Amr Al Sulaya played a delightful through pass for Mohsen, who made no mistake as he beat Wydad goalkeeper Ahmed Tagnaouti to make it 1-0 Al Ahly.

The Emperors were now trailing 3-0 on aggregate and they had to dig deep in order to overturn the three-goal deficit on the night.

Al Ahly did not sit back after taking the lead as they continued to launch attacks with Junior Ajayi forcing Tagnaouti into a great save in the 14th minute.

However, the 24-year-old shot-stopper was beaten in the 26th minute by Hussein El Shahat, who scored a brilliant solo goal to make it 2-0 to Al Ahly on the night.

Tagnaouti then pulled off a great save to deny Mohamed Magdi Kafsha in the 34th minute to ensure that the first-half ended with a dominant Al Ahly side leading 2-0.

The Emperors pushed for their first goal of the tie after the restart with DR Congolese marksman Kazadi Kasengu working hard upfront.

However, the Red Devils looked dangerous every time they pushed forward and they managed to extend their lead a minute before the hour-mark.

This time it was Yasser Ibrahim, who put his name on the scoresheet as he headed past Tagnaouti to make it 3-0 to Al Ahly on the night.

Wydad head coach Miguel Gamondi introduced Hamza Asrir, Junior Magbi Gbagbo and Zouhair El-Moutaraji at the same as the visitors looked to score their first goal in the tie.

The visitors managed to grab the goal they had been searching for in the 81st minute when El-Moutaraji beat Aly Lofty to make it 3-1 with a well-taken shot.

However, the goal proved to be a consolation as Al Ahly stood firm at the back and they secured a 3-1 win over Wydad on the night.
