On the day of his 48th birthday we look back at Shaun Bartlett’s famous goal for Charlton Athletic.
The former Bafana Bafana international spent five successful years at The Valley. He scored 26 goals in 133 matches for Charlton, the most famous of which came in the club’s 2-0 win over Leicester City on 1 April 2001.
Bartlett’s incredible volley was named as the 2000-01 BBC Premier League Goal of the Season, as he helped the Red Robins to a ninth place finish in a season in which Manchester City famously suffered relegation.
He left Charlton in 2006 and joined South African giants Kaizer Chiefs before hanging up his boots following a short spell with Bloemfontein Celtic.

It may not have clinched a record-breaking Premier League title, but this banger from Shaun Bartlett is FAR better than the famous Robin Van Persie goal.pic.twitter.com/r1kwgnkHQJ
