Former Hearts of Oak attacker Bernard Dong Bortey has stated that he could lead Asante Kotoko to continental glory if he became coach of the club.
Bortey won the CAF Confederation Cup with Hearts in 2004 and also represented the club in the CAF Champions League.
He argues that if he was given the chance to take the helm of Kotoko, he would guide them to success in African club competition.
The Porcupine Warriors are two-time Champions League winners, though the latest of those titles arrived way back in 1983 and they last reached the group stage of the premier competition in 2006.
“Kotoko CAF continental trophy droughts can be solved by me if I become coach for Kotoko. I am ever ready to coach Kotoko and I can win Africa for Kotoko,” Bortey told Hot FM, as quoted by Football Ghana.
“Kotoko have a good strong squad for [the] Ghana Premier League but they have to buy players outside Ghana to blend the players for them to [be] able to succeed in Africa.”
Asante Kotoko will represent Ghana in the 2020-21 CAF Champions League, which is set to get underway before the end of the year.
