Nigeria captain Ahmed Musa is keen to return to Europe after leaving Saudi Arabian giants Al Nassr.

The speedy attacker recently became a free-agent after ending his two-year stint with the nine-time Saudi Professional League champions.

Musa, who has played in Belgium, Russia and England, explained why had to part ways with the Najd Knights.

“I have enjoyed my time in the two years that I have been here, and the club has been great to me,” Musa told ESPN.

“But I have always wanted to return to Europe, and I feel that this is the best time for me to make that move. I want to get back to playing at the top level again against the best players in the world.

“I would like to thank everyone at Al-Nassr and all the fans for understanding and respecting my wishes. But especially for making me feel such a big part of the club and I will never forget them.”

The 28-year-old decided to terminate his contract with Al Nassr after the team’s 1-0 win over Al Taawon in a league game on October 22.

“I met with the club and requested that they should terminate my contract, and they were kind enough to agree to let me go,” he added.

Musa played some of his best football in Russia where he won three Premier League titles, Russian Cup and two Super Cups.

The former Leicester City player was recently linked with Istanbul Basaksehir, who are competing in the UEFA Champions League after winning the 2019/20 Turkish Super Lig title.
