Zimbabwe international Tino Kadewere had a day to remember as Lyon claimed a 2-1 comeback win over St-Etienne on Sunday.
Rudi Garcia introduced the 24-year-old in the second-half with the hosts trailing their rivals following an Anthony Lopes own goal. Kadwere levelled matters in the 65th minute and netted the winner nine minutes later to move Lyon up to fifth on the Ligue 1 standings.
“I think it was great today. I am very happy personally. It was a derby and it was very important for us and the supporters,” Kadewere said in the aftermath, as quoted by Foot Mercato.
“The most important thing is to win these matches. I really believe in God. I have faith and I knew it was going to happen because I always had the dream of playing for Lyon and it happened.
“It’s better when you actually do things. I am very happy. Tonight my dream has come true. I’m very happy to score and win, but I was not alone. We are a team, we win together.”
Kadewere joined Lyon from Le Havre in June having first made a name for himself at Swedish club Djurgarden who he joined from Harare City in 2015.
