Minister of Sports and Youth Development in Nigeria, Sunday Dare is unsure whether Gernot Rohr is still the right man to lead the Super Eagles.

This comes after Nigeria were held to a goalless draw against Sierra Leone in the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier in Freetown on Tuesday.

It was the Super Eagles’ second successive draw against Leone Stars, who remarkably came back from 4-0 down to hold Nigeria to a 4-4 draw on Friday.

Despite the two draws, Nigeria are still placed at the top of Group L standings with eight points with two matches left.

Dare has now made an apology to Nigerians and he also indicated that Rohr’s ability as the head coach will be questioned.

“The performance of the Super Eagles from their last two matches calls into question the suitability and competences of technical adviser, Rohr. Nigerian football deserves better.”

“The needful will be done. Apologies to all football lovers,” Dare wrote.

Rohr has been in charge of the Super Eagles since 2016 and he guided the team to 2018 FIFA World Cup finals.

The German tactician also led the West African giants to the 2019 AFCON finals where they finished third.

Rohr, 67, signed a new two-year deal with the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) earlier this year.
