South Africa’s DStv Premiership returns from the international break with a full round of fixtures in Round 4 this coming weekend, and the headline match sees heavyweights Kaizer Chiefs head to Clermont to face Golden Arrows.
The Amakhosi have won just one of their opening three league fixtures this season and – more importantly – went out of the MTN8 in embarrassing fashion when they were beaten 5-0 on aggregate by arch rivals Orlando Pirates.
This leaves manager Gavin Hunt and his players under massive pressure to pull off a win on the outskirts of Durban on Saturday afternoon, though the veteran tactician has promised that his side will improve.
“We’ve still got some good players here, so we need to get them back [from injury] and get them all playing again. The first couple of games, we haven’t really had much to pick from in certain areas,” said Hunt.
“So, it’s been pretty much playing people here and there. Obviously the biggest blow is up front, as we all know, but we just keep going and I think there’s no two ways about it, we’ll get better. We have to get better, that’s for sure, and we will get better.”
Saturday afternoon also features an early relegation six-pointer between Black Leopards and Maritzburg United (both have zero points thus far), the early evening game sees Pirates play host to SuperSport United for what could be a thrilling encounter, and the night match features two newly-promoted sides, Swallows FC and TS Galaxy, facing off at the Dobsonville Stadium.
The top clash on Sunday afternoon sees top-of-the-log and defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns host AmaZulu, but there will also be interest in a Limpopo derby which sees surprise high-flyers Baroka FC visit top-flight newcomers Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila.
