Ivorian star Jean-Philippe Gbamin is in the last phase of his recovery from a hamstring problem.

This is according to Everton FC manager Carlo Ancelotti, who has provided an update on the defender-cum-midfielder.

Gbamin has been unlucky with injuries since he joined the English Premier League club from German Bundesliga side Mainz 05 on a five-year deal in August 2019.

“Jean-Philippe Gbamin is “in the last part of his recovery” from an Achilles injury and will be ready in two or three weeks to train and play,” Ancelotti said on the club’s official website.

The 25-year-old player made appearances in the club’s first two games of the 2019/20 season.

However, Gbamin, who had joined Everton for a £25 million fee, was then ruled out for eight weeks due to a thigh injury

It was announced in October 2019 that Gbamin would be out injured until January 2020 after having surgery on a thigh injury.

In January 2020, the former English champions revealed that Gbamin would be out until the end of the season after required fresh surgery.

Furthermore, in May 2020, it was announced that Gbamin would be out injured until November 2020 after injuring an achilles tendon in training.

He has played 11 international matches for Ivory Coast since he made his debut against the Netherlands in a friendly match in June 2017.
