Liverpool FC have provided an update on Guinea captain Naby Keita and Egypt international Mohamed Salah.
Keita sustained a hamstring injury during Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Leicester City in an English Premier League match on Sunday night.
This has been confirmed by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp following the clash which was played at the Anfield Stadium.
The central midfielder limped out of the contest after 53 minutes and he will now undergo further assessment of the issue with the club’s medical team.
“He felt his hamstring and was not able to play on, otherwise he would have stayed on the pitch,” Klopp told the club’s official website.
The German tactician also revealed that they are set to welcome Salah back to training on Monday, November 23.
The forward, who has tested negative for coronavirus, missed Sunday evening’s encounter with Leicester due to medical reasons.
“That’s what I’ve heard, yes, it [was] negative today. I think he is from now on pretty normal in testing,” Klopp added.
“Tomorrow we have the UEFA testing for the Champions League and I am pretty sure he will be in that.
“He can now train with us tomorrow, that’s it. He will have two tests in the next two days, so, yes, he will be tested like all of us.”
Liverpool are scheduled to face Italian club Atalanta in the UEFA Champions League Group D match at the Anfield Stadium on Wednesday.
