On the day of his 29th birthday we relive Baghdad Bounedjah’s winning goal in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) final.
The Algerian forward opened the scoring after just two minutes at Cairo International Stadium when his powerful shot took a wicked deflection off Salif Sane and looped over the helpless head of Alfred Gomis in the Senegalese goal.
His strike proved to be the difference on the day as the Desert Foxes won their second Afcon title and first since 1990.
Bounedjah still forms an integral part of the Algerian national team and played in both games this month as the North African’s punched their ticket for the 2022 Afcon showpiece set to be staged in Cameroon.
He has scored 17 goals in 38 games for Algeria, the most important of which you can watch here:
