Tunisia international Ali Maaloul has handed Al Ahly a massive boost ahead of the 2019/20 CAF Champions League final.
The Egyptian football powerhouse is set to take on their local rivals Zamalek at the Cairo International Stadium on Friday.
The influential left-back missed Al Ahly’s 2-1 win over Abu Qair Semad in the Egyptian Cup quarter-final clash on Saturday.
The Red Devils have released the following statement:
“Tunisian Ali Maaloul, player of the first football team at Al-Ahly club, arrives in Cairo at noon today, after the end of his country’s last camp,” a club statement read.
“Maaloul was supposed to arrive in Cairo yesterday, but flight conditions prevented his arrival, which prompted the club’s management to intervene to provide a plane to quickly return the player to attend the team’s collective training in preparation for the African Final.”
“Al Ahly entered a closed camp yesterday, Sunday, after playing its training session at the touch stadium on the island in preparation for the African Champions League final scheduled for next Friday night at Cairo.”
Maaloul was part of the Tunisia squad which faced Tanzania in two back-to-back 2022 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers earlier this month.
The 30-year-old started both matches as Tunisia secured a 1-0 win at home, before being held to a 1-1 draw in Tanzania.
