Orlando Pirates coach Josef Zinnbauer has played down title talk after his side’s strong start to the 2020-21 season.

The Buccaneers are unbeaten thus far in the new campaign, with a come-from-behind 2-1 win over SuperSport United last weekend leaving them just two points off champions Mamelodi Sundowns in the DStv Premiership, while they are also set to face Bloemfontein Celtic in the MTN8 final next month.

“It’s always important if you concede first that you come back into the game, so it was important for me to see the team coming back after conceding,” Zinnbauer said of the victory over United, as quoted by KickOff.

The German added that talk of a title challenge is premature, with just four rounds completed.

“It’s a long season, for us we don’t speak about the places [on the log] now, it’s too early for us to be speaking about this,” he explained.

“What’s important for me is that we have the next game against Baroka, and this is the focus now – that’s the only [reference] point we have to work on.”

Pirates will tackle Baroka at Orlando Stadium on the afternoon of Saturday 28 November.
