Mamelodi Sundowns captain Hlompho Kekana is in the running for the FIFA Puskas Award, an award for the most aesthetically significant or “most beautiful” goal of the calendar year, for the second time.
The 35-year-old, who has made long-range goals his trademark, has been nominated for the 2020 accolade for his spectacular long range goal versus Cape Town City on 20 August 2019.
Kekana is in the running for the coveted award alongside prominent names, including Atletico Madrid forward Luis Saurez and Tottenham Hotspur’s Heung-min Son.
The Bafana Bafana midfielder was also nominated in 2016 following his unforgettable goal against Cameroon, but missed out on the top prize to Malaysian striker Mohd Faiz Subri on that occasion.
The finalists for this year’s prize will be announced on 11 December 2020, with the winners to be crowned six days later at The Best FIFA Football Awards ceremony.
