Liverpool’s African duo Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane are among 11 players nominated for The Best FIFA Men’s Player award.
Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski is the favourite for the accolade after leading Bayern Munich to a quintuple while ending the season as the top scorer in both the German Bundesliga and Uefa Champions League.
Salah and Mane played an integral part in Liverpool’s run to the 2019-20 English Premier League title, the club’s first top-flight crown since 1990.
The Egyptian winger, Salah, scored 23 goals in 48 matches across all competitions for the Reds last season compared to 22 goals in 47 matches for Senegal’s Mane.
A three-man shortlist will be announced on 11 December, six days before the awards ceremony takes place in Zurich.
Lionel Messi won The Best FIFA Men’s Player accolade in 2019, with Virgil van Dijk and Cristiano Ronaldo coming home in second and third spot respectively.
