Milan’s Algerian midfielder star Ismael Bennacer says he is not at all worried by a €50m release clause in his contract, insisting that he is only focused on performing on the pitch.
Ahead of the Rossoneri’s UEFA Europa League clash against Lille, the 22-year-old reflected on his side’s crucial win away to Napoli which kept them top of the Serie A log this past weekend.
“We won as a team, it was a tough game but we won it all together, that’s the spirit,” he said, as quoted by Football Italia.
Bennacer added that Milan are targeting a revenge victory on Thursday evening, having their only loss of the season at the hands of their French opponents before the international break.
“When you lose a game you want to win the following one, we are doing everything we can to win. It’s a pleasure [to return to France] and play against a team like Lille, I like playing for Milan,” he added.
The former Empoli midfielder has a €50m clause included in his contract with the Serie A giants, but insists that any move away from the San Siro is far from his thoughts.
“I don’t think about it, it’s not my job. I think about the pitch. I am really happy at Milan.”
On the subject of veteran attacker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is expected to be out of action for a couple of weeks, Bennacer revealed how much he has gained from playing alongside the Swede.
“I am happy because I am playing and learning a lot [from him],” the Algerian explained. “I was a different player one year ago, now I am learning many things. Ibra has made me become a better footballer, he always wants us to be professional. He speaks a lot and he helps us a lot too.”
