Gor Mahia captain Kenneth Muguna has backed his team to turn around their CAF Champions League tie against Rwanda’s APR.
The teams’ preliminary round, first-leg match on Saturday saw APR claim victory thanks to a strike from Niyonzima Seif and an own goal by Andrew Juma, though an away goal from Charles Momanyi means the Kenyan side has a strong foothold ahead of the return game at Nyayo Stadium this coming weekend.
“The match in Kigali is now a past chapter,” Muguna told his team’s official website.
“We have to focus ahead on the return leg and stop talking about a match that’s already played. We recognise our mistakes and we know what to do in the return leg.”
Defender Philemon Otieno adds that Gor Mahia are confident of a comeback: “The team spirit is high and the away goal will motivate us.
“We expect to give our very best in the return leg at home. We know if we win that match, it will give us a good platform to start off the season on a high.”
