Algeria international Ismaël Bennacer celebrates his 23rd birthday today.
The AC Milan midfielder rose to prominence at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) hosted in Egypt, playing a key role in the Desert Foxes’ run to title, and was named the Player of the Tournament as the North African’s won their first continental crown in 29 years.
Bennacer started every game for Algeria at the tournament and provided three assists, the last of which came in the 1-0 win over Senegal in the final.
His form at the continental competition earned him a move to the San Siro where he has become an integral member of the Milan squad as the Italian club challenge for Serie A honours this season.
The Rossoneri currently sit five points clear atop the league standings after nine matches, having yet to lose a game this season. Bennacer featured in eight of the nine matches, missing the most recent outing at home to Fiorentina due to injury.
