Plateau United coach Abdul Maikaba believes his side can turn around their CAF Champions League preliminary round tie against Simba SC of Tanzania.

The Nigerian side suffered a 1-0 loss at the Jos International Stadium this past weekend – with Clatous Chama netting for the Lions – meaning Maikaba’s charges will have to overturn the deficit away from home in the return game in Dar Es Salaam.

Despite this tall order ahead of them, the Plateau United coach insists that Simba only edged the first match because they are in the rhythm of playing regularly.

“Good game against Simba SC. They play good football, but they are not invincible. They are just a few inches ahead of us because they’ve played 11 league games before now,” Maikaba said, as quoted by Daily Trust.

“We have done it before. I believe we can do it again by winning away from home. We only need your support.

“We only need your support and trust. We still have another 90 minutes to decide who moves to the next round.”

The winners of the Plateau and Simba tie will advance into the first round and face either FC Platinum (Zimbabwe) or Costa do Sol (Mozambique).
